I started Lux Life London back in 2011, when I was in my final year of University and living and wild and crazy life in London’s ‘clubland’ that I wanted to document so I would never forget those memories.
I graduated and went straight into a full-time career in content marketing, but having grown up travelling frequently with my parents and living in both England and Australia, I was feeling restless and itching to get back on a plane.
But this time it was different. I no longer had months each year during the Uni holidays where I could go back home to Australia.
This time I had a job and just 20 holiday days per year.
So I had to completely change the way I travelled. No more month-long trips to Perth twice a year. Instead, my trips were reduced to just two-weeks a year, and those other two-weeks of vacay time had to be carefully spread out amongst long weekends.
My blog quickly went from showing my readers an insight into my crazy London life, to showing them how to travel on weekends and around a full-time job. But still in style and luxury, of course.
Despite only having 20 holiday days per year, I managed 15 trips (including a 2-week trip back to Perth) in just one year.
In 2016 I made the decision to move back to Australia temporarily, and spent two years living the dream in Sydney. I wrote a huge amount of blog posts about my time as an expat, with plenty of travel guides and tips from my trips across Asia and the South Pacific as well.
Then, it was time to return to London and fully commit to a country.
I bought my house in London during lockdown, but even so, I still have constant itchy feet and I feel torn between Australia (mostly Perth) and England pretty much 24/7. Who knows, maybe one day in the future I’ll finally figure it all out!
I’ve now been to 55 countries around the world, and every blog post you’ll see on here is about my own personal experiences, with first-hand advice and tips from my travels. I can guarantee you that nothing on here is AI generated or copied from those ‘top’ lists floating around the internet.
So, stick around, follow me on Instagram, Subscribe on YouTube, and Bookmark this blog!
If you love to travel and you’re looking for the best places to visit, I promise you won’t regret it 😉
PS: And yes, my real surname is Lux! It’s Latin for ‘light’ but it’s a German surname – my ‘Lux’ side of the family originally come from Köln.
A note on sponsored content
I always want to make sure that the advice I’m giving you is genuine and from me, and me alone. It’s why you’ll rarely see sponsored blog posts – I have a full-time career so I can be picky about who I work with and make sure I only work with companies I use personally or truly believe in.
It’s why when I do create sponsored content, it has maximum impact.
I’ve had some wild ROI results from my content. As an example, the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney had 18 nights of stays booked at their hotel as a direct result of my review. Additionally, the Palm Island Resort in the Grenadines had a honeymoon booking directly from my review, with a value of around £10,000. Similarly, their sister hotel Galley Bay in Antigua also had multiple bookings directly from my review and Instagram posts.
So if you’re a PR and have a client you think fits perfectly with my blog and audience, and would like to know more about how I can help you, please visit this page.
PS: I really hate coffee and salmon, do please don’t invite me to a coffee festival. Or anything that involves a lot of salmon.
And because I like to pay it forwards, here are my favourite blogs!
