How to Spend a Girls Day at Sundays Beach Club, Bali.

I recently visited Sundays Beach Club in Bali with a few of my friends from Australia as part of our girls trip to Uluwatu for Rach’s birthday celebrations. In case you missed it, we all managed to pull off the birthday surprise of the decade, and Rachael turned up to the villa in Uluwatu on Thursday evening to find me laying on her bed, haha.

How no one told her is beyond me because none of us can keep a secret! She was in total shock and I’m so glad I did it and flew from London to Bali for her birthday. She’s had such a tough year and literally deserves the world and I’m so happy we were able to give her a cute surprise <3

Anyway, back to Sundays!

We did Sundays on our last day in Bali, on a Sunday. However, you don’t actually need to go on a Sunday and can go any day of the week.

We had such a fun day I just needed to tell you all about it, because it was honestly the best day!!

So, ready to find out if Sundays is Bali’s best beach club?! Let’s go!

View of Sundays beach club Bali from the top of the funicular

Sundays is a beach club located inside The Ungasan, a five-star luxury clifftop resort in Uluwatu.

It was just a 15-minute drive from our villa, so super easy to get to for us. We just ordered a Grab ride and before we knew it we were sipping lychee martinis in our cabana!

We arrived at The Ungasan and you go through the hotel and down towards a little ticket hut perched on the edge of the cliff, you check-in, pay any remaining balance, and get your wristbands for the day.

They also provide you with lovely plush towels, so you don’t need to bring a towel with you.

We then walked down towards the little funicular that takes you down the cliffside (or you can choose to walk down the steps if you’re feeling up for it). I love a funicular, and it was awesome seeing such an incredible view as you go down in it!

When you get to the bottom you do then have a set of steps to climb down to the beach, so Sundays isn’t fully accessible if you have mobility issues.

We were then led along to our Cabana in the VIP section at the end of the main restaurant.

Is the VIP Cabana worth the cost?

Rach had booked a VIP Cabana pretty far in advance, which cost IDR 5m for four people and came with IDR 3.4m food & beverage credit.

The Cabana officially is only for four people, but I just paid IDR 1m as an extra add-on person and they were totally fine with that and I got a portion of that as food & beverage credit.

We were able to lump the two food & beverage credits together, and it was more than enough for five of us for the day – we each had about three cocktails and quite a few food dishes to share.

I would definitely recommend getting the Cabana because it meant us pale girlies could get some shade, and also gave us a space to just lay and chill between swimming.

I mean, is there actually anything better than laying on a giant bed in the dappled shade with four old friends you haven’t seen for two years, sipping cocktails and eating food and just relaxing and giggling together!?

Because the answer is no, there is not.

The Beach at Sundays

Now, this was my first time in Bali and I’d heard soooo many horror stories about the awful beaches there.

I’d heard all about dirty sewage water, and mountains of plastic and rubbish in the water, so I was super surprised with how clean and beautiful the beach at Sundays was!

It’s such a pretty beach with soft golden sand and clear turqouise water, and the watersports are all included in your entry fee.

I mean, look how beautiful the water is!!

They offer kayaks, stand-up paddleboards (SUP), and snorkelling. The only problem we found, was that there isn’t enough for everyone. So you have to wait a long time for a kayak or SUP to become available and there was such a long queue that we gave up and didn’t get to use any of it.

I’d also say if you’re going there and definitely want to snorkel, bring your own snorkel with you!

Food & Drink at Sundays Beach Club

We were pretty impressed with the food & drink at Sundays Beach Club in Bali. Quite often with beach clubs it can be very hit-and-miss when it comes to the food served, but Sundays was really, really good.

There’s a good selection of food, and we had a total variety including fries, guacamole, bao buns, calamari, pizza, and more.

There’s just something for all tastes and it all tasted very fresh. And nothing made us sick, which is always a plus when you’re in Bali.

But the cocktails were where Sundays really shone. We fell in love with their lychee martinis and frozen margaritas!

Is Sundays Beach Club worth the price?

For us, Sundays was 100% worth the cost.

It worked out around £50 each for the VIP Cabana and food & drink credit, which I personally think is very good value.

It was cheaper than the Dubai and Abu Dhabi beach clubs, and I much preferred it. The only thing to consider is that Sundays doesn’t have a swimming pool, it’s just the beach.

As well as the watersports there was music through the day, including a live band in the main dining area, and if you stay later you can enjoy sunset bonfires and an evening movie on the beach.

One thing I wish we had done is stay for sunset, as I’ve heard it’s absolutely beautiful there, but sadly we had to get back to the villa to get packed up and head to the airport for our late night flight.

So if you go, definitely stay for the sunset!

Alas, at the end of our time at Sundays we packed up our things and walked up the cliff to the funicular.

Cait and Jill decided to climb back up via the stairs, but me, Kate and Rach could not be dealing with that and got the funicular instead haha.

We were all super sad to be leaving and wish we could have stayed longer, it was honestly the best day and so much fun!
