Melbourne is famous for food and – just like the rest of Australia – brunch. While we were in Melbourne last weekend we headed to Om Nom, which was an easy 5minute walk from our hotel, the Grand Hyatt, at the Adelphi Hotel on Flinders Lane. I’d seen photos on Instagram and Pinterest of their amazing desserts, and with an extreme love of all things sweet for breakfast, I guessed they would create their sweet breakfast options just as beautifully as their desserts. I was right.
The restaurant is whimsical yet classy, with interesting soft furnishings, swing chairs, and candy shaped cushions (not photographed sadly).
We sat down and took a look at the menu, I instantly knew what I was going to have. Sid took a little longer to decide, but eventually chose an OJ and the very Australian, Toasted Banana Bread.
I stuck with water and went for the Mixed Berry Hotcake. Honestly this hotcake you guys. It was ah-mazing. So delicious! I think it may even be better than the Granger & co/Bill’s hotcakes! It was light and fluffy and covered in plump fresh berries, passionfruit curd, and a fat dollop of mascarpone. It was also insanely pretty, and let’s face it, pretty food always tastes better.
We loved our brunch at Om Nom, and for Australia thought it was really reasonably priced, too! Stay tuned for my 48 Hours in Melbourne post in the next couple of days.
