Hotel Review: W Hotel Hong Kong.

A W Hotel has long been on my list of a hotels to test out. I’ve heard so much about them, and with my love of luxury and all things contemporary and awesome, I was keen to stay at the W Hotel Hong Kong. Jasiminne is a huge fan of W, so when I suggested it she instantly said yes.

The thing is, we didn’t want one of those old fashioned luxury Hong Kong hotels, we wanted somewhere fun and unique, and a little bit cool, but still luxurious. And that is exactly what we got at W Hotel Hong Kong.

So, let’s get into my full review of the W Hotel Hong Kong…

Arriving at W Hotel Hong Kong

After a long indirect flight from Cambodia, I finally arrived in Hong Kong and found my way easily from the airport to the W on the MTR. I got the lift up to the lobby, to find Jasiminne waiting for me at the WooBar, having already made friends with all of the staff! I’m a gold SPG member, so we checked in quickly at the SPG desk, and then were taken to another lift to go to our room on the 38th floor.
As the guy who took us to the lift said goodbye to us and wished us an enjoyable stay, he looked at me and said ‘Oh, and happy birthday for last week!’. I instantly knew this was going to be a great stay – small touches like that where they take note of your recent birthday makes such a difference when you think of the service of a hotel!

The Fabulous Room at W Hotel Hong Kong

Our contemporary styled room was a Twin Fabulous Room, with two large double beds, a super swish bathroom (with even fancier sliding mirrored doors), and amenities a plenty. They had even left a Coca-Cola bottle with my name on it in our room, which impressed me even more than the birthday comment.
For those who don’t know I’ve had a bit of a Coca-Cola obsession since I was 14 and visited the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta. I started collecting limited edition Coca-Cola bottles from around the world, and have a fair amount from my travels back at my parents’ house in the UK.

The hotel provide a complimentary local mobile phone for you to use whilst you’re staying at the hotel, which actually came in really useful for calling a local taxi on Lantau Island!
We were standing in the taxi queue which had about 15 people in-front of us, and with just 20 taxis on the whole of Lantau, and a one hour round trip up to the Tian Tan Buddha, it would have taken us hours to get a taxi and get up there!
Luckily the local mobile meant we could call the taxi company and book a taxi…5minutes later we were in a taxi while everyone else in the queue was wondering how they could do the same!

The view from the huge picture window overlooking the ocean was breathtaking, and when Jasiminne and I decided to photograph the room at sunset as we were getting ready for dinner, she got some shots of me with that stunning view behind!

The swish bathroom was perfect, with a double sink, separate shower, toilet, and huge bath.

Services and Amenities at W Hotel Hong Kong

The rest of W Hotel Hong Kong was just as contemporary and luxurious as our room, the ground-level lobby featured a huge lit-up W, and the mid-level lobby featured the Woobar complete with awesome DJ and delish cocktails. The lift was all normal and boring during the daytime, but at night the carpet was removed and you walked onto what can only be described as a lit-up dancefloor with pumping music reverberating around the elevator.

Up on the top floor is WET, which is the rooftop swimming pool and jacuzzi. My jaw dropped when I stepped out and saw the views, and despite us not having enough time to really test out the pool facilities, it looked incredible!

For the duration of our stay at W Hotel Hong Kong I adored every second. I honestly don’t have one complaint. The hotel prices in Hong Kong were insane the weekend we were there, but I can hand on heart say that the price we paid for our room was 100% worth it.
Obviously it makes it less painful when it’s split between two of you (I think it was a total of £750 for two nights, so around £375 each), but from the high level of service to the little touches like the personalised bottle of Coca-Cola, the quality of the room and the all around ‘fun’ factor of the hotel, our entire stay was flawless.
It’s been a long time since I’ve stayed at a hotel with such a personality (the last time was probably at The Knickerbocker in NYC), and W Hotels do it so, so well. The way they combine sophistication and contemporary luxury with the feeling of youth and fun is just genius, and I’ll definitely be staying at W in the future!

I don't know what we would have done without the phone tbh – it completely saved us on Lantau Island! x
