A few weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of dining at
Bocconcino with some of my favourite fellow foodie bloggers! A new Italian restaurant in Mayfair, it’s just round the corner from my private members club, so the perfect location for me. The lovely
Andrea had kindly invited myself,
Angie, and
Lauren to dinner, and after settling down with
champagne and wine, we all became engrossed in conversation about twitter, pinterest, blog layouts, travel plans, and everything else blog-related!
The fab staff at Bocconcino kindly presented us with a platter of antipasti, including tasty calamari (complete with fried baby squids – which are my favourite part of calamari), parma ham with baked cheese parcels, buffalo mozarella with tomatoes, and deep fried tiger prawns and courgettes.
Andrea and I weren’t fans of the tiger prawns as we found them rather greasy. However I loved the mozzarella and the parma ham dishes. Angie decided to order the tuna tartare as an extra, but we all agreed it should have been ‘chunky’ tartare rather than minced, and Lauren and I both agreed the pepper was far too overpowering and spicy.
Sadly I didn’t get a photo of the tuna…so I’ll give you a photo of the champagne instead. Everyone loves a photo of bubbles, right!?
The restaurant itself was pretty quiet when we first sat down, however by the time we chose our main courses it was pretty busy considering it was a Wednesday night!
Next up we each chose a main from the set menu. Andrea and Angie both decided to be healthy and opted for the seabass fillet with potato crust, whilst Lauren and I chose the pepperoni pizza cooked in the restaurants clay oven. We’d spotted a nearby table feasting on the thing and crispy pizzas, and just couldn’t resist! It really was delicious, the crust was perfect and it was heaped with generous layers of cheese and pepperoni!
For dessert we decided to get two of each. Andrea and I both chose the Passionfruit Cheesecake, whilst Lauren and Angie went for the Tiramisu. Although Andrea would have preferred a thicker base, I’m all about the filling and so for me it was perfection. I absolutely adored it and finished every single crumb. It was definitely one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had (aside from my
Oreo Cheesecake obvs); the flavour was strong and the creaminess was just delicious.
We had such a wonderful evening at
Bocconcino, it was classy and cosy and felt like we were dining in a glamorous home. For the most part the food was brilliant, and I’d certainly go back for the pizza and cheesecake alone!

I do love catch-ups with my ‘internet’ friends – they made me feel so normal when I’m snapping photos of food and talking everything social media and blogging! It was also great to have a chat with Andrea about balancing a full time job with blogging (she made me feel less guilty for neglecting the blog every so often when work gets a little crazy). Thank you Andrea for inviting us all along!
