Clubland Reunited at the Royal Automobile Club Bridgerton Ball.

It’s been a long time since we all dressed up and went to a ball. In fact, I think the last one was the Christmas ball in 2019. When I first started Lux Life, the clubland events and balls were the main part of my life that I shared on here, and so it’s been weird not sharing anything really for the past couple of years or so, what with COVID putting a stop to events etc.

But, Clubland is back with a bang! And boy oh boy do I now know why the 1920s were roaring with parties. To celebrate the relaxing of the rules and return of events, the Royal Automobile Club threw a Bridgerton themed white tie ball at the Woodcote Park clubhouse for its younger members and their guests. It was pure magic, and there were a few points in the night where I just looked around at everyone dancing, laughing, and hysterically joyous, and had a little cry.

The evening started with a tower of champagne and music from a string quartet. It was delightful and it was so much fun seeing the people who had gone all out with Bridgerton themed outfits! I was slightly devastated that my regency inspired dress didn’t arrive in time, so instead I wore my navy blue and sequin dress. Sarah’s outfit was so incredible and she even made her regency-style shoes! She did cheat slightly though as she’s an art conservator so had a head start on the rest of us when it came to skills 😉

The food was delicious as always, with a Wiltshire Ham Hock starter, Chicken breast main, and a Chocolate delice for desserts!

After dinner the DJ started and the party really began! As always, Sophie and John were first on the dancefloor, and we all danced until our feet blistered and our legs ached and we could stand no more, and of course, as with most balls in clubland, the final song was a classic – Mr Brightside. All through the three lockdowns my friends and I had been saying ‘I just want to shout Mr Brightside at the top of my voice again!’ and suddenly, after a year and a half of living through a pandemic and being stuck indoors at home, we were back, singing at the tops of our voices and shouting the words out with such force we all lost our voices in the days after.

Clubland, it’s nice to be back.
