With only a week to go until we head off to Antigua, C and I went for afternoon tea last week to plan and discuss the last minute details of the trip! I’d never visited the St Ermin’s hotel before, but heard so much about it as it was a favourite of Winston Churchill’s for top secret war time meetings. Their Royal Afternoon Tea is currently running to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, and as it was a beautiful sunny day, we made the most of it and sat outside on the gorgeous shady terrace.
I was driving so avoided alcohol and opted for a lemonade, while C had the welcome cocktail.
The one thing I loved about this afternoon tea was the size of it. I’m one of those awful people who when lots of food is put in front of me I feel as though I *have* to eat it all. So to have a dainty selection of food was perfect and the best way to enjoy afternoon tea without feeling completely sick and bloated afterwards. Also how cute is the crockery?!
The sandwiches were delicious, my favourite was the lobster on a mini brioche roll. It was so so good!
I’m not a huge scone person and so I tend to avoid them (not worth the calories etc if you don’t enjoy eating it!), but the flavours of these ones were so interesting I just had to try one! I had the white chocolate and raspberry one and I’m not sure I can ever eat a normal plain ole scone again.
Obviously though the sweet things were my favourite, as I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. The delicate cakes and patisseries were lovely, but we couldn’t finish them all so had to take them home in boxes! My favourite was definitely the chocolate and raspberry one though!
Our afternoon tea was the perfect girlie catch up, and
St Ermin’s Hotel is insanely beautiful. I adored the design of the inside with the sweeping staircase and chandeliers.
Where’s your favourite place in London for afternoon tea?
*Our afternoon tea was complimentary

That afternoon tea looks divine! It looked like the ideal combination of sweet and savoury, all with a unique twist. I'll definitely have to check this one out sometime soon!

Love the beautiful crockery!
Oh, one to add on my list! We're the opposite, I like scones best and sandwiches least. But agree that if you don't enjoy something, it's defo not worth the calories!!! I like classics at the Langham, champagne tea at the Savoy and have just discovered Dalloway Terrace! Asia de Cuba do an alternative type of arvo tea as well.

Ooh wow, white chocolate and raspberry scones sound delicious! I'm going to have to start baking my own, plain ones just don't cut it anymore! Looks like you definitely still get enough to eat even if it is smaller than usual (and I also like the look of unlimited champagne!) xxx

That looks so lovely! I've never actually been for afternoon tea in London, but it's definitely on my list of things I'd love to try 🙂 Angharad x

What a gorgeous tea selection! The hotel is right by where I live too 🙂
I used to live just round the corner from this hotel and went to their chocolate afternoon tea a few years ago and absolutely loved it! I actually do like scones but you're right about the fact that the white choc raspberry one would make all others seem a bit boring thereafter!
