A couple of weeks ago I flew from Perth to Sydney for some work meetings, and had some time to explore the city a little.
I last went for my 17th birthday, in 2008 (oh gosh I feel old…), and as I did most of the typical touristy things last time, I wanted to go to some different places
I turned to Reddit, and they suggested the Chinese Friendship Gardens near Darling Harbour.
I strolled down on Tuesday morning from my hotel, Shangri-La Sydney, which took about half an hour, and paid my fee to get in.
Wow.
Visiting the Chinese Gardens of Sydney
The Chinese Gardens of Friendship are located between Darling Square and Darling Quarter, right by Darling Harbour.
As of 2024 it costs $12 for adults to enter, and $8 for children under 12.
You can pre-book tickets online here.
Is it worth visiting the Chinese Gardens?
Honestly, yes.
The Chinese Gardens of Friendship are SO beautiful, it feels like a haven of this busy bustling city, a beautiful secret garden that made you feel as though you’re in another world.
The walled Chinese Garden recreates the philosophy and harmony of a traditional Chinese garden in its waterfalls, lakes, exotic plants, pavilions and hidden pathways.
It’s hard to put it into words, so I think I’ll show you in photos just how beautiful it is…
Beautiful photos, it looks like a lovely serene place :o) Xx

Thank you – sadly I didn't have enough wifi to edit them so they're just as is (the camera isn't great in overcast conditions). It was beautiful!

It looks beautiful and so tranquil! I wish I'd have had a chance to visit when I was in Sydney.

It was absolutely lovely, I'd highly recommend a visit to anyone going to Sydney! It was such a great feeling to get away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD.
