I can’t eat blue cheese as I’m allergic to mould (literally, it causes my asthma attacks and eczema flare-ups), so they replaced it with a sad-looking lettuce and quinoa salad…which was quite literally a piece of lettuce with a sprinkling of quinoa on top. Thankfully the Steak & London ale pie and the Crab cake more than made up for the salad – both were super delicious and I absolutely loved them both! And then the beautiful London Eye tea stand was brought over to us! It really is impressive, and we snapped plenty of photos before getting down to business.
We began with the adorable sandwiches with the crusts cut off, and a mini brioche bun, before moving on to the scones. I’ve said this before but I’m actually not much of a scone person (shock horror!), and so I just had one raisin scone covered in strawberry jam and thick clotted cream.
And then the desserts. You will all know by now how much of a sweet tooth I have, but even I couldn’t finish the array of sugar that lay before us! My favourite was the Red Telephone Box, a rhubarb mousse that was light as air and satiated my sweet tooth perfectly! The rest of the desserts; The Gherkin, The Shard, and Big Ben, were all very rich and we both struggled to eat them all. The Shard was my least favourite, I found it a very odd flavour combination and it didn’t taste of carrot cake at all.
