The sun was shining brightly, and aside from the sea breeze whipping off the coast, it was a pretty beautiful day. Hannah and I both had a couple of hours to spare over lunch, so we decided to head to the newly opened Coast on Port Beach to see what all the fuss was about. And I sorta lied about our lunch being healthy…we had a side of beer battered chips.
There are two parts to Coast, the fancy evening restaurant part, and the more relaxed pub side which is perfect for a lazy lunch catching up. We chose to sit on the terrace overlooking dunes that lead to the beach and ocean, and ordered two non-alcoholic cocktails while we looked over the menu.
Although there are no specific non-alcoholic cocktails on the menu, the bar lady was more than happy to create a fruity concoction for us. We were both driving so were being sensible and staying 100% sober. The mocktails were delicious!
For lunch I decided to go for the Mango, Avocado, and Prawn salad. It was a really tasty salad, but the description said the base was spinach, when actually the base was rocket with only a tiny amount of spinach. Not a huge issue, but I know I’d have much preferred a bowl of spinach leaves than peppery rocket leaves. The combination of the mango, avo, and prawns was utterly delicious though, and I’d definitely go back just for this salad!
Hannah chose the veggie skewers, and from the sounds of it she loved them.
Naturally we had to get beer battered chips on the side. I have a think about beer battered chips, and after 18 months of being in the UK where we don’t have them, I was all over them as though I hadn’t been fed in weeks!
We spent a couple of hours catching up, and then wandered down onto the beach.
It got a little toooooo windy though and the sand was whipping up, so we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. Coast Port Beach is standard Perth pricing – so on the pricey side, but for a ‘treat yo self’ lunch it’s the ideal spot – perfect location, friendly staff, and a great menu!

Andrea's Passions
But I thought that having a salad cancels out all other calories? Seriously though, what a delicious morning!
I wish this kind of thing could be a daily occurrence in the UK!
