So May has been a pretty busy month. I haven’t had time to do a full post for absolutely everything, so I thought I’d do a little roundup here of the things I’ve been up to but haven’t been able to dedicate a full post to. And I thought, ya know, it’d be a chance to just catch up, like old times, with some crappy phone photos thrown in for good measure.
So first things first, at the start of the month I got my hair cut. I know this isn’t a massive thing for most people, but the last time I’d had it cut was August 2014. Yeh. That. It’s not tooo much shorter, I just had about 2-3 inches taken off, but it’s short enough that it no longer gets caught everywhere, which I’m pretty happy about as it limited me somewhat. I mean, it really doesn’t look chic when your hair gets caught in your handbag handle, or under your armpits, or in the buttons of your coat….or in your car door. Yeh. That happened.
So anyway, at the end of April I went up to my Grandma’s in North Wales to visit her, I could only go for one night due to work, I left early Saturday morning, drove the four hours, stayed overnight, then drove back Sunday evening ready for work Monday morning. An eight hour round trip for 24 hours with my Grandma? So worth it. I’d missed her so much, and I always love our time together. We had a lazy day on the Saturday catching up and watching movies, and then on Sunday we went to Erddig, which is one of my favourite National Trust properties. Just look how beautiful it is!
I was also really lucky to be able to go to the VE Day ‘A Party to Remember’ Concert on Horseguards Parade, which was held to celebrate the anniversary of VE Day. I told you all in my post about my grandfather’s death my love for war history, and luckily my mum got us all tickets for the concert before it sold out. It was absolutely brilliant! It felt so patriotic, and we got to see heaps of cool acts and artists, including Diversity and Pixie Lott, as well as people we’ve seen before such as Gregory Porter, Alfie Boe, Status Quo, and the lovely Laura Wright who I met last year at a friend’s dinner party.
It was my friend Hilary’s birthday a coupla weeks ago so we went to the Royal Automobile Club for drinks and Zuleika Cakes made the most delicious gluten-free lemon cake! It was without a doubt the yummiest and most moist gluten-free cake I’ve ever tasted.
I also caught up with the lovely Samantha from Thoroughly English at my club for a few drinks after work on the new terrace. The ROSL garden was looking particularly gorgeous in the sunshine!
I haven’t been to the Lansdowne Club for a very long time, but this month I decided it was time to go back and enjoy drinks with the gang at our old haunt. The girls and I celebrated my return by taking selfies in the powder room like old times…naturally.
This month I also went to a brilliant Eurovision party at BAFTA club as my friend Suraya is a member. It was so much fun, we had a screening room with fancy chairs, delicious canapes (I had more than my fair share…), and drinks. I was rooting for Guy Sebastian from Australia as well as that really gorgeous guy from Sweden…so I was very happy when Sweden won! Now, does anyone know him? Because I’d quite like to marry him. Thanks.
The rest of the bank holiday was spent relaxing, Grandma was down for the weekend, and then on the Monday I went to the London Bloggers Picnic organized by the fabulous Aftab. It was so great to see my favourite bloggers again and meet some new ones! I was also very lucky to win the prize of dinner for two at Chotto Matte!
There was so much food that we couldn’t finish it all, so I filled a huge bag and gave it to the homeless man who sits near my club with his dogs on the way back to my car. He was very happy and super grateful, it was really lovely to know that just a few pounds worth of food had brightened someones day. He had a bag of tortilla chips, a packet of cheese slices (the good Edam ones, not the plastic ones), a box of sausage rolls, and a box of scotch eggs. I was a bit worried that I’d give him a huge sugar rush though – he had a whole box of chocolate brownies in there too! I then headed to The George Inn in London Bridge to meet a huge group of friends for drinks.
The month ended with the Moveable Feast at the Lansdowne Club. Basically you sit boy-girl-boy-girl, and after each course a wheel is spun and whatever number it lands on, the men have to move that many places to the left. It means that each course you get to chat to a different person! I met a couple of really interesting guys, and then one of them was so ridiculous (“I’m from Eton and I also have a tattoo on my back, would you like to see it? i’m not flexing in that photo by the way…”) that the other Catherine and I literally sat there and ripped the shit out of him until he realised he wasn’t gonna get anywhere.

Haha oh my gosh, that guy sounds ridiculous! I met a good few of those at uni, it's hard to keep faith in people sometimes haha. Sounds like a very, very busy and fun month. What a lovely post about your granddad too, it's so hard losing the people we can't imagine life without xxx
