It had been years since my best friend last visited from Australia, and so we planned plenty of adventures for while she was staying with me. Although we’ve spent the past two years living in the same country again, with my move back to London it will be another year or two before we are reunited, and so we needed plenty of girlie time before our long-distance friendship resumed. Our first mini-holiday was at the
Brookland’s Hotel in Weybridge, just a quick 20-minute drive from my parent’s house.
I’ve grown up visiting the Brooklands museum (maybe this is where my love for cars came from?!) in the school holidays, and so it was
nice to go back to the area and experience what the adults get up to.
We arrived late on Friday after I’d finished work, and were wowed by the incredible suite we checked in to. It had everything you could possibly need; a large and stylish open-plan dining room, living room, and study area, a considerably sized walk-in wardrobe, and a large twin bedroom (which can be converted into a double) and bathroom. The design of the suite was very on-brand with the location, dark greys, silvers, and reds, and lots of lovely quirky touches and ornaments in keeping with the car theme.
The view from the suite’s terrace over the Mercedes-Benz race track is a petrol-head’s dream, and it was great fun watching all the cars racing around!
After arriving and settling in to the room we decided to spend an hour in the spa before our
girlie dinner, and found the jacuzzi has a similarly epic view over the race track. Sadly it was very full though, and so we found the
sauna and steam room and made the most of those instead.
Dinner in the
1907 restaurant (named after the year Brookland’s race track was opened) was a sumptuous affair with a delicious starter of Pork Terrine with pistachio, while for mains we chose the Pork Belly and the 250g Rump steak with chips.
The desserts were a moreish Salted caramel creme brulee, and selection of gelato and sorbets, which I didn’t photograph as we ate them far too quickly! The service was attentive but not too overwhelming, and when we couldn’t finish our petit fours, the staff packaged them up so we could take them back to the room for a midnight snack.
The next morning we awoke from a blissful sleep, bright and early ready for our massage and facial! I’m not a facial person, so I had a full body massage while Cait had her chosen facial. The spa use Caudalie products which are actually my favourite skincare products (I swear by the Vinosource SOS serum and the Vinoperfect moisturiser), so I was really happy to see that they use these. They’re very gentle products so great for people like me who suffer from eczema and sensitive skin, and they smell very fresh and not too overly perfume-y! After our spa time we went back to the sauna and steam room, and finally got into the jacuzzi with that view!
Our stay was short but sweet, and I’d recommend
Brookland’s Hotel to anyone looking to get out of the city and enjoy a peaceful day or night away in the countryside! There’s plenty to do in the area to make it into a weekend trip too, as you have Brookland’s Museum and the Mercedes-Benz world opposite the hotel, as well as lots of National Trust properties in the area.
